Board and executive search is where Roster began in 2009, and it remains the practice we hold to the highest standard. We appoint chairs, chief executives, finance chiefs and non-executive directors for listed companies, private equity portfolios and founder-led businesses that are ready for a different kind of board.

Every search is run by a partner from the first conversation to the final reference. We start with the board, not the job description: what the company needs to get right in the next three years, where the current team is strong, and where it is exposed. From there we map the market in full, including people who are not looking and would never answer an advertisement. Clients see the long list, the reasoning behind every name on it, and the people we chose to leave off.

Discretion matters more here than anywhere else. Many of our searches replace a sitting executive, and some are never announced until the appointment is made. We run them under code names, keep the circle small and brief candidates in person. Referencing is thorough and done by us, not delegated. The result is a practice that boards return to: more than half of last year’s appointments came from clients we had worked with before, and our chairs and chief executives stay in post well beyond the market average.
